I have had two hip replacements. I decided to do a piece commemorating my titanium hips. It is amazing what modern medicine can do. Without those new hips, I would not be walking today, let alone dancing. The hip prostheses are made with silver lame fabric. Quilted into the background are flowers. The inspiration for the yellow halo came from the aura around images of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
